Aptos is not actually a city, but a census-designated place in Santa Cruz County comprised of both mountain and beach communities.
They are:
• Aptos Village, the main commercial district
• Seacliff, a beach community on the Monterey Bay
• Rio Del Mar, a community combining Aptos Seascape Golf Course with the beach community along Rio del Mar State Beach.
• La Selva Beach, a charming beach community above La Selva Beach, Lundborg Beach, and Manresa State Beach.
• Aptos Hills, Larkin Valley, and Day Valley, an inland, hilly commmunity northeast of Highwayy 1.
Aptos and its many communities have a combined population of around 25,000.
Aptos is known for its many natural amenities and parks such as The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park , Seascape Resort and Spa, Seacliff State Beach , and Manresa State Beach as well as being the home of the annual Aptos Blues Festival.
It is also known for its Fourth of July “World’s Shortest Parade”, a community wide event that lasts for about one-fourth of a mile!

Valencia Elementary School
Rio Del Mar Elementary School
Mar Vista Elementary School
Aptos Junior High School
Aptos High School.
Private schools include Santa Cruz Montessori School, Orchard School, Twin Lakes Christian School, and The Aptos Academy.
It is also the home of Cabrillo College .
