Blackhawk, California is a master planned community located just east of Danville California.

It gets its name from the Blackhawk Ranch, established in 1917, which itself was named after an Irish racehorse.  The ranch passed through many hands until it became the site of the large development of the same name in 1975.

Today, it is known for its large luxury homes, open spaces, and the Blackhawk Country Club.  

Blackhawk is comprised of six communities on Blackhawk Rd and connected by a 3-mile bicycling, jogging, and walking trail.

They are:

  • Hidden Oaks  - the first Blackhawk community. Homes are usually on ½ acre lots.
  • Oakridge  - made up of medium-sized homes or around 2500 square feet.
  • Saddleback – Blackhawk’s second community and comprised of some of the most upscale homes in Blackhawk.  Consists of very large homes on at least 5-acre lots.
  • Silveroak  - a luxury Condominium development.
  • Silvermaple – located adjacent to Blackhawk Country Club. These are typically homes of around 2500-3000 square foot homes.
  • Blackhawk Country Club – this is the largest of the six communities and integrates a country club atmosphere with a luxury lifestyle.

The Blackhawk Country Cub opened in the late 1970’s and encompasses thousands of acres of open space and luxury executive homes and sprawling estates.

It features a championship course (designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge), The Lakeside, which hosts the annual CVS Pharmacy LPGA Challenge as part of the LPGA Tour.

There is also a newer golf course, The Falls, designed by Ted Robinson and is located in Country Club East.

In addition, Blackhawk features 20 tennis courts, a pro shop, an Olympic-sized pool, and a 25-acre Sports and Recreation Center.
