Alamo is an unincorporated community of Contra Costa County, located in the San Francisco Oakland Bay Area between Walnut Creek and Danville and at the foot of Mt. Diablo. As of the 2000 census, the population was nearly 16,000.

Well groomed right down to the sand-traps and water features, Alamo California and Round Hill Country Club's PGA-rated course sits in a pastoral setting at the foot of Mt. Diablo
Contrary to popular belief, Alamo CA was not named for the historical site in Texas – it takes its name from the Spanish word for the poplar trees which are prevalent in the area.
As with many of the communities in the area, Alamo was once an agricultural community, known for its nuts, grapes, and fruits. But since the 1960’s, Alamo has become better known as the home of Round Hill Country Club and upscale custom homes and sprawling ranches. Alamo homes quite often sit on large lots over half an acre in size.
Alamo schools are part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) .
