I have often said that a condo is the best kind of second home or beach get-away! You have someone else take care of the exterior maintenance, you have someone else do the yard work, and all you have to do is show up and enjoy your vacation home!
Well, here are seven great condos in Santa Cruz and Capitola – some with a beach view and all close to the water! Three are a skateboard ride away from the Santa Cruz Marina!
The least expensive is815 Balboa Avenue, Capitola. At $499,000, it is by far the most affordable. Well decorated, 3 bedrooms and two baths with a balcony that, if you stretch your neck really far over the railing, actually has a view of the Monterey Bay! The HOA dues are a little high at $425/ month, but you get a pool and covered parking.
The next two are at the west end of Santa Cruz, near UCSC. 1700 Escalona Drive, Santa Cruzis a really nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit in a very small complex for $539,000. Lots of decks, lots of upgrades, beautiful hardwood floors. Im not sure which I like best about this one – the ocean views or the lovely woodsy setting.
Right around the corner is 140 Southview Terrace, Santa Cruz for $549,000. This 2 bedroom unit has two-and-a-half baths and is also very well decorated.
Both of these west-enders have 2-car attached garages and are in spotless, move-in condition.
Another Capitola condo at 4995 Cliff Drive, Capitola, listed for $850,00 has location going for it, for sure. A Frisbee toss from the Capitola Village and the beach, it is just close enough to the nightlife for you to enjoy it and just far enough away that you can turn out the lights and rest while the party rages on! Another 2 bed, 2 bath unit – but this one sleeps eight and it located in the vacation rental district, meaning there could be income when you are not enjoying the Esplanade.
Back to Santa Cruz and the Marina for Frederick Street and the last three:
142 Frederick Street, Santa Cruz is another lovely 2 bedroom home, but this one has two master suites! Two fireplaces for those chilly winter evenings by the ocean and a short walk to the Marina for those summer cruises on the “Chardonnay”. $799,000.
The next two are in the same Heritage Landing complex – 99 Frederick Street, Santa Cruz at $899,000 and 89 Frederick Street, Santa Cruz at $1,795,000. Both are in a gated community and split the difference between a woodsy feel and a central Marina location.
