Santa Cruz Vacation Home with a Woodsy Setting – for $464,000!

You know, in this kind of market you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the Handsome Prince.

So, when I went out the other day and looked at 33 HOMES in the Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, and Soquel area, I knew it would be like holding a beauty pageant at a turkey ranch.

And I was correct.

Before I get too far along, let me say that when a lot of people think of a vacation home in Santa Cruz, they think of a home on the water.  But, unless they are also thinking of spending a million dollars, they are going to be very disappointed.

Please remember: the beach is one one of the local amenities!  The mountains, redwoods, and country lanes are just as inviting to a lot of people.

But, that’s another story.  One of the many homes I saw was 440 Branciforte Drive, Santa Cruz, listed at $464,000.  This property is in a lovely creekside setting, just a chip-shot from De Laveaga Golf Course. 

Although the parking doesn’t allow for too many guests and turning around can be a bit of an ordeal on occasion, the home itself was a pleasant surprise! 

It seems a little bigger than the listed square footage, and in reality, it is much more of a cabin in the redwoods than a year-round family home.  But, for the price of a home in the Santa Cruz flats, you can have lovely mountain house just a couple of miles from the beach!
