Discovery Bay is a watersports-based community accessing the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.  Homes frequently enjoy a waterway frontage and some have “deep-water” moorings and docks to accommodate various types of watercraft.

Recently, it has grown to include non-waterfront homes as well.

July 2007 saw Discovery Bay receive its own ZIP code – 94505 – and the entire town celebrated this milestone.

Discovery Bay has a population of approximately 9000 residents with a little over 3000 households.

Discovery Bay schools are administered by the Byron Union School District with the exception of Liberty High School, which is in the Liberty Union High School District.

Excelsior Middle School (located in Byron)

Liberty High School (located in Brentwood)
