Capitola, located on the Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz County, was the first seaside resort in California – and with good reason! Great weather attracts folks each year, filling luxury hotels and vacation rental homes – luring them with scenery beautiful enough to fill a photography studio.
You come to Capitola for the Village…
But it doesn’t matter if they come for the weather, fine dining at the Shadowbrook Restaurant, or a luxuriating day at the Inn at Pasatiempo, it is the beach they will remember – and it is the beach that brings them back to buy their property along the coast.
… you stay in the charming vacation rental homes…
Whether you decide on Capitola or Santa Cruz to the north, there is a lot to choose from in this market! Never have I seen so many nice properties for sale along the Monterey Bay!
From adorable cottages on Depot Hill and the Jewel Box to easy-care condos for sale overlooking the sparkling water, there is a lot from which to choose.
But you buy the Depot Hill beach home …
One 4 bedroom house for sale in the Jewel Box – totally remodeled, ready for friends and family – just came on the market for a little bit over a million dollars. Another 4 bedroom home in the Capitola Village – again, very nice inside and an easy stroll to the beach and the nightlife – was about the same price.
… because of the BEACH!
Right on the cliffs over looking the bay from Depot Hill sits a 3 bedroom 2000 square foot charmer in the same price range.
All in all, I counted five or six single family homes in Capitola for just over $1M that would be perfect for a vacation home, a weekend getaway, or a full time residence.
The condos for sale are even more affordable. I counted three – right on the water, sunset an all – for between $500,000 and $700,000. Two to 3 bedrooms and stunning ocean views, about a half a mile walk from Capitola Village, its restaurants and watering holes… and the beach!
Don’t get me wrong – the Bay Front Inn, the Venetian Hotel, and Pasatiempo Inn all are wonderful places from which to enjoy Capitola and the Santa Cruz area. But, with all of these homes for sale, isn’t it time to buy a piece of the beach rather than just borrowing it one day at a time?
It is hard to imagine this piece of California coast – with its lifestyle, its weather… and its BEACH – will be this cheap for too much longer.
